How to Add a Slide Show on Canva Websites
Jun 14, 2021As a direct seller, it's hard to predict which information your guests want to see. How can you narrow down which products to share? What part of the script do you cut? How long should the presentation be, without guests losing interest?
These questions can be hard to answer because it's all based on individual preference, but one thing I always recommend is avoiding the presentation getting too long. For instance, even though I could spend several pages talking about one particular type of product, that would be a lot for someone to scroll through if they weren't interested in that product. I want the presentation to be snappy and to leave them wanting more.
One way that I add extra content into presentations without adding bulk is by embedding a slide show on my Canva website. This way, the viewer can swipe through the slides if they're interested, but it doesn't make the overall site feel super long.
How to Embed a Slide Show on a Canva Website
For this technique, you will need two separate Canva designs: the slide show itself, and the destination site that it will go into. Let's say I want to make a website all about my favorite restaurants in Madison, Wisconsin. I want to devote some attention to coffee shops, including what I love about each one. But I want to keep it to one page, but not make that page too crowded.
1. Create the Slide Show
I used an Instagram post design template, with one page for each of three shops. I also created a first page that prompts the user to swipe or tap through to explore. I even added an animation to each page that features a shop, so that as a viewer swipes through, it will be visually interesting.
2. Get the Embed URL
I then grabbed the unique URL that I can use to embed this design inside my website. Be sure to go to "embed" and copy the embed link, not the embed code.
3. Edit the Canva Website
I have a second Canva design, which is the destination for these slides: my Canva website. I saved a square-spaced spot on the appropriate page for the slide show to fit. All I have to do is select this page and hit control+V to embed the link on this website.
4. Test the Slides
Now, when I view this as a website, you'll see that I can just swipe through these pages at my own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions about Embedding a Slide Show on Canva Websites
What happens if I edit the original slide show?
Well, the destination website will always pull from the most recent version of the embedded design - which means that, at least within a few minutes, changes to the slide show will appear on the website if it is refreshed or if someone visits it for the first time. This is great news!
What other uses for embedding can I try?
You could have shoppable thumbnails for people to browse on each page. You could tell a story, broken into chunks, that people can binge on the way they love to do with their Instagram Stories. You could have a "before" picture, and invite them to swipe to see the "after" result. Embedded slide shows are a great way to introduce compelling content that uses up some horizontal space, not just vertical space on your website, and that lets the viewer choose what topics they want to see more detail on.
